Steps have been being made to get this drawing finished up. Frank, Charlie, Dee, Dennis, and Mac's faces are finished up and all in their classic form. Now they just need to have their bodies finished up with a little background added and it'll be time to bring the black and white pen drawing into full color!
The Worble, a group of incredibly talented skaters asked me to put together three illustrations of birds for a line of apparel for them. They wanted the drawing done in a similar style to John James Audubon. I've always loved the intricate detail and decorativeness of his work and I wanted to make sure to capture those characteristics of his painting into these illustrations but at the same time make them bold enough to look clean when screen printed. This is the rough sketch for the first illustration, depicting a male and female Blue Throated Black Warbler. Moving on to final line work very soon! Check back to see the finished artwork!
One of the funniest shows I've watched and a favorite of mine for the past few years easily, the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia characters were something I couldn't resist putting on to some paper. My intentions were to capture the essential qualities of each character, in their "natural habitat" AKA Paddy's Pub, with a few inside joke references that fans of the show would pick up on. With the rough sketch all laid out, it's time to move onto the final pen drawing. Next steps will be tracing this onto Bristol drawing paper, drawing it in pen, than scanning and color in Photoshop. Next steps will be posted in the next few coming days!
